Are there any gaps between your practice of offering feedback to students and what Hattie recommends?

One thing that stood out to me in Hattie’s article was that “feedback directed to the ‘self’” does not enhance learning. I have always thought that such feedback would help motivate the student but according to the article, it has the detrimental effect of “diluting” the efficiency of critical comments.

In what ways can you improve the effectiveness of the feedback that you provide for your students?

In the future, I will try to limit my use of the fourth (self) level of feedback.
