I currently send out a short welcome letter to my new students to welcome the course and invite them to ask me questions. I could vastly improve my social presence on the welcome letter I send out. I could add some more personal information about my interests and academic background so that I seem more real to the students. I could also add links to resources that might help get them excited about the course while they wait for their course materials to arrive.
