I picked my Post 3 for the ‘Showcase’ category because I thought it was important to directly relate what I learned in this course to the course that I am teaching.

 

• What are 2-3 of the most important ideas that you have studied during this course?

I think that 2 of the most important ideas that I studied in this course are that teaching has to be conducted to encourage the student to take a deep approach to their learning and that feedback has a huge impact on learning.

 

• What are 2-3 questions that you have as a result of this course?

Is the feedback that I am providing my students going to maximize their learning?

Am I encouraging my students to have a deeper understanding of the course material?

 

• Identify 2-3 specific goals that you would like to achieve in light of what you have learned about cognitive presence, approaches to learning, and feedback;

One of my goals is to encourage discussion with my students. I will try to include feedback that will further my students understanding of the topic in my marked assignments.

Another of my goals is to reduce my use of self level feedback. I will do this by reviewing my feedback I’m submitting to my students with a view to minimize self level feedback.
