- My favorite vacation spot:
My favorite vacation spot is Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Spruce is one of my favorite horse shows of all time. I love the huge open grass show rings and the challenging courses. It’s a great experience to walk into the International Ring and compete against some of the best riders in the world.
- Synopsis of the last novel I read:
I recently read The Magicians by Lev Grossman and I absolutely loved it! The novel follows the adventures of a grad student named Quentin Coldwater who attends a magic university.
3a. What is the most important characteristic of high quality online learning environments?
I think one of the most important characteristics is that course should be engaging and thus encourage the student to want to learn.
3b. What is one thing I’ve learned about teaching in the last year? And how has it impacted my practice?
One thing I’ve learned in the past year is that each person learns at a different pace and it is important to adjust to each individual. I have tried to assess where each student is at the beginning of each lesson and try to ensure that each student has improved by the end of the lesson.

How do I ensure that the students are engaged with the course?
How do I know that the students understand the material?
